I think the New Orleans Saints are a wonderful team and a wonderful story. Their fans have suffered through most of their 40-year existence and REALLY sufffered from Katrina and the economy. And New Orleans is one of my favorite cities because it doesn't look or sound like any other in a homogenized United States.
But please! After demolishing New England in its noisy dome, let the Saints play a tough game outdoors.
Maybe it will be in Washington his week although the long-range weather forecast is for relatively mild temperatures for December _ 15 degrees Fahreneit above freezing is the high for Sunday after a little snow and rain on Saturday. The Redskins aren't a very good team _ 3-8, but at least they play some defense and might slow down Drew Brees a little.
But before I anoint the Saints the way a lot of media outlets are doing, I want to see them play a good team outdoors. It won't happen because the schedule says it won't, but it would make their run toward the second unbeaten regular season |
