We got the big news Tuesday: TMZ is starting ia sports branch, adding athletes to entertainers, politicians and other celebrities whose personal liives it "exposes."
I'm glad I'm not well-enough known to have it come after me. Even though I can't think what in my rather sedate and boring life might interest it.
All this comes as a result of the seemingly endless interest in Tiger Woods' transgressions _ Rupert Murdoch's New York Post had him on its front page for 20 consecutive days. Most of my journalist friends agree with me _ it was piling on. And it continues: Golf Digest just announced it won't run Tiger's monthly screeds from the PGA tour until he returns to play.
My opinion about Woods is simple. I don't like what he's done but I know of dozens of athletes, dozens of politicans and dozens of ordinary citizens who have done the same. The divorce rate in the U.S. is 50 percent, and a lot of those divorces are the result of extra-marital fooling around. (See Mark Sanford, the soon-to-be divorced |
