Once again, I don’t care about the spread. That’s only in place to encourage fans of both teams to wager. The players and coaches couldn’t give a rats tail about the spread, so neither do I. To borrow from the Cliff Fletcher expression “draft shmaft”, I say …spread shmed !!!

Houston at Buffalo;  Both teams have won 2 in a row. Somewhat surprising is Houston at 2-1 on the road.  You can flip a coin on this game, but the Bills will be a little more energized, by what should be an enthusiastic  Ralph Wilson Stadium crowd.  Bills win by 10. No “wide right” mishaps this week !!!

Cleveland at Chicago; It’s almost a waste of time to write anything about the Browns. In fact, I’ll suggest that the only way they can make the Bears break a sweat, is if LeBron plays for them.  He looked good in that TV commercial playing for the Browns.  Bears win by 21.

St.Louis at Detroit; Now this one has classic written all over it.  I know you’re all rearranging your schedules just to see this game, and that’s  understandable.

It’s a tough call, but after careful consideration, I say the Rams go from 0-7, to 0-8.  The Lions will win this all time nail biter by 3-0.  Remember where you heard it first ok ?????

Denver at Baltimore; The Broncos are this seasons biggest surprise with their 6-0 record, with 3 of those wins on the road. More importantly, they have the best defense in the N.F.L., having surrendered a league low 66 points. The Ravens losing streak of three will now become four.  The Broncos win 24-14.

San Francisco at Indianapolis; The Colts look unstoppable, with their bigger and stronger defense, to go along with the always explosive Peyton Manning and the rest of the crew.  The Colts have the second stingiest defense in the N.F.L., just behind Denver. They’ve only given up 77 points. Mike Singletary will want to put the pads back on in watching the Colts shred the 49rs defense. San Francisco has lost two in a row. Now you can make that 3.  Colts prevail  38-17

Miami at N.Y. Jets; This game seems easy to predict. The Dolphins are 0-2 on the road and 2-4 this season. The Jets also have a better record on defense. The Jets are 2-1 at home.  New York beats Miami  27- 13.

N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia;  The Giants have surprised everyone by losing 2 in a row, and being defeated at home by the Cardinals.  Eli Manning’s team is 3-1 on the road, while the Eagles are 2-1 at home, and 4-2 overall. Philadelphia is slightly better on defense, so combine that with a bit of home field advantage, and I’ll select Philly over the “G” men by  27-24.

Jacksonville at Tennessee; I know the Titans have been awful, with the third worst defense in the NFL in terms of points allowed, and the leagues biggest shock as an underachiever.  I figure that the odds dictate that they are going to win a game sooner than later. So I’m throwing out all the math, and statistics and picking  Tennessee to finally win 20- 13.  They will be a slightly more respectable 1-7 after this weekend.

Oakland at San Diego;  More was expected of the Chargers this season, but against Oakland’s anemic offense, 2nd from the bottom, and just 2 points more than the Rams, the Chargers should be able to put away the Raiders., and they will. San Diego 34 Oakland 6

Carolina at Arizona;  It looks like Jake Delhomme’s glory days are over. The Panthers also have the second worst offense in the N.F.C.,and Arizona has won 3 in a row, including their surprising win over the Giants. I can’t find any reason to go with Carolina, so I wont.  Cardinals prevail 33- 10.

Minnesota at Green Bay;  With all the drama attached to this game, I would be inclined to ignore most of the statistical data, other than the fact that the Packers have the best defense in the N.F.C.  Brett Favre wants revenge, but the Packer fans want it even more than he does. The Cheese Heads  will get their wish and the Packers will punish Brett to the tune of  20- 17.

Atlanta at New Orleans;  The Falcons are pretty good, but the Saints seem to be a team of destiny, and by the way, New Orleans has the best offense in the N.F.L.,as well as an improved defense from last season.   The men from Cajun country continue their roll  and stay undefeated with a 41- 17 victory.
