I just noticed there's some sort of index listing the chances of each country to reach the second round of the World Cupup. There are a lot of those things for the NFL. To me it's a lot of hokum in the NFL and the World Cup always has its share of strange results. Let them play the games.
This particular index? In the group a lot of us care about, England is the overwhelming favorite, the "soccer power index'' giving it an 82 percent chance to advance. I could have told hyou that without an index.
The U.S. has a 48 percent chance and Algeria and Slovenia each have 35 percent chances taking into account Algeria's "Home Continent Advantage.'' Home continent? It's at the other end of said continent, 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometeers away.
Like I said. Play the games. |
